A city alive with passionate romance, premier fashion, and renown cuisine, it’s hard not to fall in love with Paris. While everyone has their own reason for visiting, we all can agree in unison that Audrey Hepburn had it right when saying Paris is never a bad idea.
Stiletto pains be gone! One of the key trends that has emerged from street style fashion was the flat sole. No longer does a heeled shoe outshine today’s retro sneaker or modern boot. The glory (and practicality) of having endless options for fashionable flats is a welcomed opportunity to break away from our very much loved, yet painful pumps while still staying fashionable.
The quick rise and fall of fashion trends is something we’re all too familiar with. One day something is “in” and before you know it, it’s time to update your wardrobe. There are some things so iconic that no matter how many people wear them, and no matter how much time passes, they will always remain a classic. One brand that has defied fleeting trends without ever compromising it’s iconic style is Converse. This rubber soled sneaker is one shoe that will stand the test of time and continually be favored by people of all styles.
We’re always taking a peek at what’s on the street to get an idea of what everyone’s wearing. While the basic white tee is still overpowering the everyday outfit, we’ll never tire of a good ol’ graphic tee-shirt. Most of us commonly associate graphic tee’s with toned-down dressing but try pairing them with belted jeans and heals for a more fashion forward look.
Not big on reading but love the sophisticated look of walking with a book in hand? No worries, clutches inspired by classic book covers have made a loud presence on blogs, magazines, and red carpets everywhere. So if you’re looking for a more enlightened yet fashionable way of dressing, this trend might be exactly what you’re looking for.
The infamously recognized Mickey Mouse character has moved his way up from playful children’s clothing to the chic streets of high fashion.
Blame it on your nostalgic childhood memories or the rise of another vintage trend, either way we must admit this whimsical mouse gives cross dressing a good name by skillfully sporting our floral Cora dress.
We answer our question with a resounding yes. Once a staple of tacky, tree huggers, clueless dads and American college students around the nation are rejoicing at their once hated attire now falling into a full blown fashion trend.
So ladies, switch out your sky high stilettos and slip into something a little more practical… Like Birkenstocks.
The familiar faces we see at every fashion week are at it again, gracefully strolling the streets of Paris for Fall 2013 Couture fashion week. While most are rushing to add new couture styles to their never ending wish lists, we’re looking to the streets. Every season these street stylers always deliver and as dazzling as the shows may be, it’s the outfits off the catwalk that really inspire.
Stretch your favorite pieces this summer with layered jackets and statement accessories that help take your outfit from day to night. Too add an extra oomph to our lace Dasha romper, a feminine classic, pair it with a tailored blazer and your favorite sunnies.
Fashion’s coolest chic, Julia Sarr Jamois, has captivated us all with her stand out style and perfectly unrestrained hair. Jamois began her career at a young age like most in the fashion industry, starting as an intern for i-D Magazine. Today, at the young age of 24 she not only holds the title of fashion editor for Wonderland Magazine but also styles and models in her spare time. She’s the cool face in the crowd and everyones favorite street style star. Memorize her name because this sartorial inspiration is here to stay.
Sometimes what is unseen can be just as interesting.
A look inside of what goes on behind the camera during an ALEXIS photo shoot.
There are few and precious times a year where we allow ourselves to flip the switch from work mode to vacation mode. In these rare moments we let the carefree spirit that comes with summer sink in and wipe away our daily stresses. We caught intimate moments from Alexis’ recent vacation to Bakers Bay that remind us of the importance of family and summer.
It’s summer time and the living is easy. A luxurious resort where beach meets desert, no place is more well suited for easy living than Mexican-Mediterranean resort, Las Ventanas in Los Cabos, Mexico. With hideaway beaches and expansive suites this summer spot redefines relaxation and hospitality. Make the most of your summer at this window to paradise.
Everyone is always looking for the next big thing and photographer Bon Duke just might be it. Born and raised in NYC with a BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts, Duke is becoming a rising icon. With a distinctive eye for all things fashionable (and some seriously envious hair color), this weeks style spotlight shines bright on Mrs. Taylor Tomasi Hill. With an impressive resume, including style and accessories director for Marie Claire and currently Moda Operandi’s art director, this street style star is leading the way in the fashion world.
Believe it or not the sun is shining and temperatures are finally beginning to rise. This can only mean one thing: goodbye Spring, hello Summer! To celebrate the start of the season we’ve made an outfit collage on how we’d wear our fire printed Sabina tank.
This summer expect no shortages of vibrant prints in eye catching colors. For those of you with a bolder side, head to toe floral suits are a must. Stay feminine and playful in our blooming floral Carmela jacket, Amanda blouse, and Annika pant!
There is no accessory we love more than an outrageous pair of sunglasses. If you are anything like us, you’re always on the look out for complementing styles to add to your collection. With mirrored shades taking over this seasons sunglasses trend, it is time to update our old sunnies for a pair of reflective lenses.
The only question left is, what color do we buy them in?
This Wednesday we’re into sophisticated minimalism, pairing the Laddie dress with basic black accessories and current read, Misfit by Adam Braver.

These fresh faces from around the world have kicked up quite a storm in the fashion industry. Standing out in the saturated crowd of modeling can’t be easy and we commend these young beauties for making it look like a walk in the park. Having already worked with major designers, these talented girls are making themselves very hard to ignore.
Taking our Spring Summer 13 collection back to where it all started, sketches. Here is the first step of what it takes to design a new ALEXIS collection.
With the spring season finally making it’s slow debut, we’re ready to lock up those heavy knits and add a little color to our wardrobes. The ALEXIS SS13 collection mixes fresh silhouettes with classic fabrics, leaving you with a modern femininity, perfect for those sunny days we’ve all been waiting for.
Braided hair was a common theme at this year’s spring shows. Though the easy, interwoven look is nothing we’ve never seen, it’s modification over the years has help retain it’s popularity. The braid sprouted in the 70′s with the long, two sided version and quickly changed to a single, slicked back type in the 80′s. After the influential hip hop movement in the 90′s, the loose braid was switched out for tight cornrows. This season, designers like Tory Burch and Jason Wu opted for the messier fishtail braid, making this wispy plait Springs hottest hair trend.
It’s no surprise that the Beckerman sisters know how to put together an amazing outfit (and with major confidence we might add). Seeing continual posts of them wearing our favorite Tyler jacket had us jaw dropped and deeply in love. Looking forward to seeing how else they’ll incorporate ALEXIS pieces into their already incredible wardrobe.
This year’s unusually long winter has us counting down the days until Summer. Day dreams have strictly consisted of bold sandals and printed shorts, topped off with oversized sunnies and gunmetal accessories. With sandy beaches clouding our minds and the ALEXIS Spring Summer 13 collection now in stores, here’s an outfit collage that reflects our need for a quick change of season.
There is something about a vintage photo that always leaves you a little breathless. They can set you off into a dream about a time when life seemed a little slower and a heck of a lot more glamorous. To kick off your weekend we’ve set you up with inspirational photos and a memorable quote from American author, Eudora Welty, “Don’t be like the rest of them, darling”.
Taking this week’s style spotlight is Harper Bazaar’s Australia senior fashion editor, Christine Centenera. Being a fashion editor and having outrageous style is no surprise to us but it’s her knack for making bold pieces seem easy that sets her apart. Her classic and cool style has everyone talking and asking: How does she do it?
There were so many stare worthy moments at Paris fashion week you’d almost forget to blink. From structured silhouettes to full monochrome outfits, it’s hard to believe these street stylers didn’t save their best pieces for the final days of fashion week. Here we’ve combined our favorite photo’s of models, designers, editors and more as they fabulously bustled from one show to the next.
We live in a cyclical world where things come and go faster than a storm blows. The constant changing of trends not only heavily applies to the fashion industry, but also to the way we style our hair. A look that never seems to go out of style is the beloved pixie cut. The short do’s popularity began in the 1950’s when Audrey Hepburn’s flawless version debuted in the movie Roman Holiday. We saw it rise again in the 60’s with Twiggy’s side swept style and again in the 90’s with an even shorter version like Winona Ryder’s. Today, celebrities like Anne Hathaway and Emma Watson have traded their long locks for the shorter and more dramatic cut.
Jeans will always have a special place in every woman’s heart (and closet). With an endless option of fit and color it’s never possible to own too many. Taking this seasons spotlight is the baggy boyfriend jean. There’s something about a cuffed, low-slung jean that can make even the coziest outfit seem glamorous. Whether out for a coffee run or a night out on the town, slouchy boyfriend jeans always come through to make an effortlessly chic outfit.
Designers often find inspiration from the past and sometimes in the most unusual places. Street style’s photo guru, Tommy Ton, photographs bags we’re convinced were designed after familiar characters we ritually watched while growing up. It’s nice to encounter these once forgotten childhood memories in forms of fashion.
Theres always been something mysterious and romantic about dressing in black lace. It’s a timeless fabric, dating back to the 1500′s, that’s been transformed and modernized over the centuries. This season we’ve focused on a more sophisticated use of lace by pairing the premier fabric with a mauve lining.
No one is better suited to model this season’s modish jewelry than the rare bird of fashion herself, Iris Apfel. At 91, her dynamic approach to fashion and persevering curiosity has allowed her to become one of todays most revered style icons. In each portrait Iris fearlessly models designs by Aesa, Dannijo, Rosantica, Mawi and Iossellani
Say goodbye to last season’s darker, more mature shade of red and pump up the brightness! As we kick into spring, bolder and brighter lips are making a comeback. This universally flattering shade has migrated off the runway and onto the streets. Incorporate this saturated shade into your daily makeup routine to add a playful punch to your look.
The rise of street style has become a predominant source of fashion inspiration that’s reshaped the way we dress during the day. No longer do we feel the need to twiddle our thumbs and wait for the sun to go down before we whip out those sky high stilettos we’ve been thinking about all morning. It’s the familiar faces we see, confidently strutting from one fashion show to another, in the most outrageous outfits that remind us there really is no specific time for dressing up.
More of this week’s inspirational enthusiasm comes from California born artist, Tobias Tovera, who’s richly saturated paintings has us all itching to wear bright textures and multiple layers. We’ve blended seven of our favorite street style photos that we think fall into a similar rhythm of Mr. Tovera’s energetic paintings.
The booming comeback of black and white tones into the fashion scene has made us rethink basics. After countless seasons filled with prints and colors we are moving back towards simpler shades. No longer are these raw colors strictly reserved for basics; this season we’ve demonstrated just how bold and new these colors can really be.
